Amazon FBA refunded-but-not-returned finder

When Amazon refunds a customer, the item is supposed to come back to its warehouse. When it does not, Amazon should reimburse you — usually automatically, but not always, and you can only claim between day 45 and day 105 after the refund. Open your settlement, customer returns and reimbursements reports here to see which refunded orders never came back and were never paid for. No login, and your files never leave your browser.

How it works

  • Refunds come from the settlement report: every FBA order line with a Refund transaction.
  • Returned means the order ID and SKU appear in the customer returns report.
  • Reimbursed means the reimbursements report has a customer-return or service reimbursement for that order.
  • Anything left is dated from the refund: Wait before day 45 (Amazon may still pay on its own), Claim now from day 45 to 105, and Past 105 days after that.

Filing a claim

For each "Claim now" order, first open the order in Seller Central and check the return did not arrive under another line. If it did not, open a case under Help → Get support → Fulfillment by Amazon, with the order ID, the refund date and the SKU. One order per case keeps them easy to resolve.

Questions about refunds that were never returned

What happens when Amazon refunds a customer who never sends the item back?

For FBA orders, Amazon normally reimburses you automatically if the refunded unit is not returned within about 45 days. When it does not, you can open a claim — but only between 45 and 105 days after the refund. Before day 45 it is too early; after day 105 it is too late.

Which reports do I need?

Settlement reports (flat file V2) covering the refunds you want to check — add several to cover four or more months — plus the Customer Returns report and, optionally, the Reimbursements report for the same period through today. The settlement shows refunds, the returns report shows which units came back, and the reimbursements report shows what Amazon already paid for.

Why is an order I know was returned showing up?

The returns report matches by order ID and SKU. A return that arrived under a different SKU, a replacement instead of a refund, or a returns report that stops before the return date will all show as not returned. Check each order in Seller Central before opening a case.

Are seller-fulfilled orders included?

No. Only FBA refunds (fulfillment-id AFN in the settlement) are checked. Returns on orders you ship yourself come back to you, not to Amazon.

Is my data uploaded?

No. All three files are read by your own browser and cross-checked on your device. Nothing from them is sent anywhere.
