Amazon US settlement profit calculator for FBA sellers

Your Amazon.com deposit is one net number. This breaks it back into sales, selling fees, FBA fees, other transaction fees, refunds, ads, reimbursements and the reserve — then takes off your product cost — so you can see the profit that is actually left. Enter your own numbers; nothing leaves your browser.

How the estimate works

Real profit ≈ product sales − promotional rebates − refunds − selling fees − FBA fees − other transaction fees − inventory and service fees − advertising + reimbursements − reserve, and then minus the cost of the goods you sold and your inbound, prep and packaging costs.

  • The input names follow the lines of a US settlement report: product sales, promotional rebates, refunds, selling fees, FBA fees, other transaction fees, FBA inventory reimbursements, service fees and the reserve.
  • Sales are entered without sales tax, which Amazon collects and remits in marketplace-facilitator states (Amazon: Marketplace Tax Collection). You may still have to register or file in a state — check with the state, or see what the states holding your FBA inventory say.
  • Advertising counts as a cost of the period even when it is charged to your card instead of the settlement.
  • The reserve lowers the cash you get now but is released later, so the result shows profit both before and after it comes back.
  • Income tax is not modelled: the result is profit before income tax.
  • Fees are whatever you enter. Check your own settlement report or Amazon's fee preview for the exact numbers.

Settlement questions Amazon US sellers ask

Why is my Amazon deposit so much lower than my sales?

Amazon pays you one net figure per settlement period: product sales minus promotional rebates and refunds, selling fees, FBA fees, other transaction fees, inventory and service fees, and advertising if it is deducted, plus any reimbursements, minus any reserve held back. The settlement report is the file that reconciles that deposit line by line.

Should I record the Amazon deposit as my revenue in my books?

No. The deposit is already net of fees, refunds and the reserve, so booking it as revenue hides your real costs. Record the gross sales and each fee category separately, as the settlement report shows them, and match the net to the deposit in your bank account. Confirm your setup with your bookkeeper or CPA.

Does sales tax belong in my Amazon revenue?

Usually not. In marketplace-facilitator states Amazon collects sales tax from the buyer and remits it, so it appears in the report and is taken out again. The calculator leaves it out of sales for that reason. Your own sales-tax obligations depend on where and how you sell, so confirm them with a tax professional.

What are reimbursements and the reserve on a settlement?

Reimbursements are credits Amazon pays for FBA inventory that was lost or damaged, and they add to your payout. The reserve is part of your balance Amazon holds back for a while before releasing it. The calculator treats the reserve as timing, not cost, and shows profit both before and after it is released.

Are the fee numbers in the calculator Amazon's real fees?

No. The pre-filled numbers are only an example. Fees depend on category, item value, size and weight, so enter the figures from your own settlement or Payments report, or check Amazon's own fee preview for an exact number.
